VALUE OF TIME
Value of time is immeasurable in our life . Time is fleeting and it never stands still to oblige anyone although he / she may be the mightiest on earth . The proverb , saying ” Time and tide waits for none ” is absolutely correct . One can make up the loss of money by hard labour , loss of knowledge by study , loss of health by medicine but time once lost is lost forever . Losing of time idly will lead to future repentance . A punctual man realises the importance of time and uses time properly to make future life happy and prosperous . Those who make future life happy and prosperous . They knew better that time is precious and priceless and that knowledge made.
Paragraph/essay on Visit To A Place Of Historical Importance
Visiting a place of historical importance is very interesting to me for it brings back to the mind’s eye the century that it belongs. During the last winter vacations the students of our class visited Moen-jo-Daro, a place of great historical interest One of our teachers also accompanied us.Moen-jo-Daro is at a distance of seventeen miles from Larkana on the right bank of the river Indus. Moen-jo-Daro means “Mound of the Dead”. It was discovered in 1924 by Sir .John Marshall. The civilization which flourished there is known as the Indus Valley Civilization. It flourished some five hundred years ago and is one of the oldest cities in the world. We reached there early in the morning. The weather was pleasant. A huge crowd was there including many foreigners. From its ruins it appeared that the Moen-Jo-Daro was well-planned. The people lived in buildings which were plain but dignified. The big houses had two or more storeys. Baked bricks were used for the construction of houses. The houses were provided with paved floors, bath-rooms, wells and cess-pits. The most important building in Moen-Jo-Daro was the Great Bath. The streets of the city were wide and straight with an elaborate system of drainage. The streets were also made of baked bricks. There was an elaborate system of drainage. Proper arrangements were also made against enemy attacks and floods. All these go to prove that the people of the Indus Valley led a highly advanced urban life. We also visited a museum there which contains many interesting objects found from Moen-Jo-Daro. These include seals, jewellery, toys, weapons, painted pottery etc. The best find of Moen-Jo-Daro is the head of a bull which was used as a seal. A metal statue of a dancing girl has also been found. A study of these findings reveal that the people of the Indus Valley possessed a highly developed civilization. We spent the whole day there looking at the ruins of this great historical place. The ruins of the Moen-jo-Daro remind us that once people developed a flourishing civilization here. Indeed, it was a memorable visit which we enjoyed most. It will pilfer through the windows of memory, till a long time. We really enjoyed visiting the place and desire to visit it again.

Child labour, the curse of society
The term child labour, suggests ILO, is best defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development. It refers to work that is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful to children, or work whose schedule interferes with their ability to attend regular school, or work that affects in any manner their ability to focus during school or experience a healthy childhood.UNICEF defines child labour differently. A child ,suggests UNICEF, is involved in child labour activities if between 5 to 11 years of age, he or she did at least one hour of economic activity or at least 28 hours of domestic work in a week, and in case of children between 12 to 14 years of age, he or she did at least 14 hours of economic activity or at least 42 hours of economic activity and domestic work perweek.UNICEF in another report suggests,”Children’s work needs to be seen as happening along a continuum, with destructive or exploitative work at one end and beneficial work – promoting or enhancing children’s development without interfering with their schooling, recreation and rest – at the other. And between these two poles are vast areas of work that need not negatively affect a child’s development.”India’s Census 2001 office defines child labor as participation of a child less than 17 years of age in any economically productive activity with or without compensation, wages or profit. Such participation could be physical or mental or both. This work includes part-time help or unpaid work on the farm, family enterprise or in any other economic activity such as cultivation and milk production for sale or domestic consumption. Indian government classifies child laborers into two groups: Main workers are those who work 6 months or more per year. And marginal child workers are those who work at any time during the year but less than 6 months in a year. Some child rights activists argue that child labour must include every child who is not in school because he or she is a hidden child worker.UNICEF, however, points out that India faces major shortages of schools, classrooms and teachers particularly in rural areas where 90 percent of child labour problem is observed. About 1 in 5 primary schools have just one teacher to teach students across all grades.
Ragging:It’s origin and description
nitially ragging started in the British era in English colleges and universities but it slowly spread to Indian educational institutions. The excuse was to teach the social hierarchy in early career, and also learn other important values in life as if they were mature enough to know anything about values and hierarchy.Practice of familiarising beginners with their seniors has now turned into a potent tool for ill-treating and punishing poor students if they fail to obey their seniors.Under the pretext of fun, a poor student is often assaulted, sometimes even stripped and intimidated by his seniors and this ritualised torture leaves an indelible impression on his mind. The chilling incident continues to haunt him throughout his life, and he unknowingly develops various psychological disorders. After experiencing the evil of ragging, a student develops a feeling of revenge for his ‘unjustified harassment’ and derives pleasure in ragging his juniors on his turn. So the trend goes on and students continue to suffer. Those who surrender before their seniors are set free from the torment after going through a series of inhuman acts, but those who refuse to follow their diktats are subjected to barbaric and brutal treatment and are forced to urinate on high voltage heaters, take part in naked parades, shave off their moustaches and beards, and stand upside down on their heads etc.The situation sometimes turns so bad that it compels the ragging victim to commit suicide. A section of insensitive students feel that light ragging should be allowed in educational institutions, while some are totally opposed to the idea and demand stricter punishment for those involved in it.
Paragraph/essay on Choice Of Carrier or Aim In Life
An old saying goes thus, “Life without an aim is like a boat without a rudder”. So one should have a definite aim in life to reach according to one’s own individual capacity. Some want to be doctors, some engineers and some again pilots. I am no exception to this. The career of a doctor is devoted to the service of the suffering mass. It attracts me. The life of an engineer is innovative and inventive. It also charms me. The life of a pilot is thrilling and adventurous. It allures me not less. But the career of a teacher is something different. He is a maker of man. Who but a teacher can boast of producing so many doctors, engineers, pilots or the like? It is he who builds the future citizens of a country and moulds the character of a nation. I am inspired by the lofty ideals that a teacher has for welfare of the society. So I like the career of a teacher. I shall produce a lot of doctors, pilots, engineers and other professionals one day. This is my aim in life. And God willing, I will reach my aim one day.
Paragraph/essay on Recollection Of School Days
Ten years of my school days glided by so soon ‘like the passage of an angel’s tear.’ Sometimes I journey down my memory lane ‘in vacant or pensive mood’. Then the sweet memories of my school days ‘flash upon in my inward eye’ giving me ‘the bliss of solitude’. I still remember my first day at school. I was a bit nervous that day. But I found my classmates quite friendly and the teachers so affectionate unlike Mr. Creakle of Salem House, a character in Dickens’ ‘David Copperfield’. I remember how on the first day my class-teacher asked my name. As I stammered it out, he gave me a sweet hug. I also remember how one Monday I forgot to do my homework and my friends in the class helped me out of this problem. The teachers encouraged me in moments of despair and enriched the store of my knowledge. I also remember with shame how my class-teacher slapped me on the face one day for an act of disobedience. These are the sweet memories of my school days to remember for ever.
Short essay on your experience during the pandemic of COVID – 19
It was late December of last year when I first heard of COVID-19. To many it invoked a sense of fear and paranoia as we all watched as it spread across the globe. This time last year I as many others have never worn masks in public. I never thought a virus could shut down our entire society and create so much death and destruction, but this is the world that we all inhabit presently. It spread so fast that by March 2020 schools all across the country including mine were closed. The prospect of online learning never occurred to me, still there I was behind a laptop loaned from the school, attending classes virtually. Those short months felt like an eternity as I completed Model Activity Task. Online learning garnered many emotions and responses from students. I observed that students who didn’t normally feel uneasy were getting behind and enveloped in a shroud of stress. I was confused at this observation as I thought those types of students could never feel uneasy as much as they have. This situation caused me to do some research and I found multiple articles about the effects that not seeing or talking to people in months can do on their mental health or how looking at a screen for hours can cause eye strain. I had trouble feeling motivated to do simple Tasks as it was so easy to get distracted or procrastinate. This caused grades to drop substantially and brought attention to how important in class instruction was. After this whole ordeal I gained a greater respect for teachers and how important they are. My teachers did an excellent job in making sure that the curriculum could transition smoothly into an online space. They also regularly posted reminders and updates on their google classroom pages. This helped me and my peers so much and made sure that we could receive the education we required. There were unexpected consequences of staying home during those months. I found in my experience that I had a greater bond with my family and I had more time to really focus on the relationship I enjoy, although I enjoyed my time last school year I was excited to get back to school in a semi normal fashion. Online schooling can’t account for the social interactions and the school spirit you feel when you’re in a school environment and my hope for the future of schooling is a higher amount of respect and value placed on our teachers. I like many others found myself through my time in quarantine and I’m glad that we went through this experience and I hope that we can learn our lessons from this virus and hopefully prevent it from happening again.
